Midday is a lamp made from little. Its thin aluminium frame pinches a technical fabric sheet, giving it a curved shape. Normally used to filter natural light, we moved this solar control fabric away from its original context to use it on artificial light. When the lamp is turned on, the lampshade reveals only the light sources, which seems to float.
The mesh of the fabric filters the light sufficiently to allow these bright shapes to be viewed without being dazzled. The frontside of the lamp diffuses a softened light while the back of the lamp, left open, emits a more powerful indirect light.
